I had a photo that I took at my Grandson's birthday party that wasn't very good, so I thought I'd try the porcelain effect on it.

Anita, that is just beautiful! I love that effect. I've tried but haven't had anything look like yours. Can you share how you got it to look so perfect?

Anita,
That is truly the most beautiful child! How lucky you are.
I have Elements 2.0 and after I saw what you did, I wanted to duplicate it with one of my photos. However, I cannot find the Porcelain Effect. I went to Effects, but it is not there. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Do you have a more recent version that it is included with?
If I am not looking in the wrong spot, does anyone know if this effect can be downloaded into my version?

Hi Kimmer and welcome. The porcelain effect is not included with Elements. You can purchase and action for it or there is a tut in one of Kimi's homework assignments. I'll find it for you.
Here it is

There are a couple of places to find this effect. One of first places that I found it was in a PET. training (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26518), duckettphoto (http://www.duckettphoto.com/lessons/pencil/index.htm) and myjanee (http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/porcelain/porcelain.htm).
Thanks,
Dane

Kim,
Thank you for the reply. I am new at this 'forum' thing.:( So, I clicked on the basic link that you gave, then it asked me for my username and password--I entered the same as I use for the forum, but it said that it was incorrect.
do I have to sign up separately for the tutorials or am I just doing it wrong?
Thanks for your help.
I really want to learn this. I also have Photoshop 7 besides Elements.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I used Kimi's homework as the basis for this and then I just slowly dodged until I liked it. Like I said the original photo wasn't very good at all, so this effect saved it.

I just purchased a porcelain effect and am running it with Photoshop Elements 5.0, I've come up with an ok picture but not with a porcelain effect. What I ended up with was a b/w photo with faded soft edges. Can anyone suggest maybe some settings that I can play with to get the procelain effect?
Any and all help will be a welcome relief. Please send suggestions to jjf2011@yahoo.com

Joseph
