View Full Version : Coloring in the lines

I have a (rather big) drawing, one layer ("Lineart"), and the lines have the feathery edges when you zoom in close (anti-aliasing?). I want to color it in. I want to "restrict" my coloring to certain areas at a time. I've followed some other tutorials...I tried making a "Color" layer which I positioned below my "Lineart" layer, and I also figured some things out with the Magic Wand (got certain areas selected to color while on the lineart, then colored on the "Color" layer). I was able to almost do what I wanted (it kept my color within the selected area), although the feathery edges were visible when I de-selected. There's also some other complications I'm having now...but, with the info I have provided so far, could somebody give me some simple advice or direct me to a good online tutorial that might help me do what I want to do?

Hello GreyFox, and welcome to the forum.

I think what you want is explained in quite a bit of detail (4 pages) in Vol.3, No.6 of the PET Newsletter. The title is something about adding colors, shadows and detail to B&W line art.

I have never had any interest in doing this so I don't have any ideas for other tutorial sources.
