I'm trying to learn Photoshop 5.0 by trying stuff out, but it's not working out as quick as I thought. Which online training course should I start first... the one about layering or workflow? I'm still trying to figure out all the tools and such as well...but it's gotta get easier than this. I have bought a few books...but I learn better by someone showing me...so I'm hoping the classes will help. Can anyone advise me to the right start?

I can't say much about the Work Flow one as it's still on my *to do* list, but I did find the Layers one very useful.
Most of what you do in Elements relates to layers so if you don't know much about them you can't go wrong in taking that class.
What ever you decide.......take notes as you go along. Makes life so much easier further down the road when trying to figure out how you did something before :-)

I think it kind of depends on what you want to accomplish with elements. For basic photo editing, I would definetly say take the workflow one first.

I took the layers class first and while it is an excellent and highly useful tool it is slightly advanced for the beginner to jump right in too. Personally I can now use a lot of the layers tools but feel like I need to go back and take the course again.

I recall when I took the workflow thinking that I wished that I had taken it first. Even though it was set up for PSE 3 and I was and still am using PSE 4. Everytime I get to thinking maybe I am getting the hang of it I see some of the work that some of the forum users are doing and realize I have a long ways to go.

This forum and the tutorials available for free ( especially for members) are also excellent sources for information. Stick with it a while and you will be hooked and if it hasn't already the "Oh Yeah" light bulb will come on soon.

Welcome to the forum and all the friendly and helpful people who hang out here.
