Hi there, folks!

I am trying to install Photoshop Elements 5.0 onto my machine.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

I am FAR above parameters for hardware requirements.

I am getting an error: the dreaded Error 1335.

It is telling me that Data1.cab is corrupted.

I have turned off antivirus software/firewall software before installing.

It's happened 3 times now.

I also tried copying the contents of the disk to my hard drive and running it from that location to install, to no avail.

Any ideas? I did a search regarding this error, but only saw a topic regarding Photoshop Elements 3.0 on an XP machine. And the problem was not resolved (bummer).

Thanks for your time and help.

I used to get this error when trying to install the service packs for MS Visual Studio 6.0, on XP Pro SP2. The only solution that worked for me was the one on the InstallShield site, here: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108201 but I don't know if this will work for you, since you're on Vista.

There are some more workarounds suggested here: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1043174104

Good luck and report back! :)

EDIT: Oh, and something else - maybe it's not relevant here, but I've seen this happening in some cases - maybe you have set a 3rd party program (i.e. Winzip) to manage .cab files? If so, you can disable the .cab association for this program and then restore the default association from Folder Options (or the equivalent in Vista), and see what happens...

Hi, PSE 5 needs a patch to run on Vista. It's free from Adobe.

Well, I went thru hell week:twisted::twisted: last week trying to re-install 5.0 from the cd on my upgraded to Vista (32 bit). I could never get it to reinstall from the cd--I also followed all troubleshooting that both Adobe & Microsoft have on their sites. I finally after many days & hours of frustration re-bought:twisted::twisted: 5.0 from Adobe & finally got it to install from the download. I too tried to save the set-up file from my cd to the desktop & insatll from there-it never would work.
Also the patch which you will need woun't install unless %.0 is alrready installed. I hope you have better luck than I did. Knock om wood everything is now running relatively smoothly.

I had the error 1335 data1.cab and subsequent error 2350 when i tried to install PE6.0. Help forums really had no help or solution. I tried updating my windows installer at

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4&displaylang=en,

picked my platform (i was running 32-bit vista), and tried to install again. Success!!
