Hello everybody , I am new to the forum and to digital software in general. My question is about viewing my images. Before I installed elements 4 , I used picassa 2 to edit and view my images. While elements 4 allows me to do much more editing with my images , when I want to view my images in full screen , the image shows much better in picassa 2. Is there settings in elements 4 that I am not aware of . Thanks much in advance.:D

Hi ...

.. and welcome to the forum :)

Try Window>Images>Maximise ... once you have done that then the images will open at their largest size :)

Thank you both for your welcome . I am working on a pc , so I don't have
Window>Images>Maximise . I can the view the image at full screen but not as good a quality as picassa2. Thank you and hope to here some more suggestions.:o

If you use the Organizer you can hit F11 and veiw your images in full screen. :)

I use this when I import new images from my camera so I can see what I want to keep and what to delete.

Just wondering - when you say quality - what do you mean? Size or color? If the latter then it's because Elements is a color managed program while Picasa isn't. If they don't look the same color/tone then its likely a monitor calibration issue.

I too have noticed a difference in color and contrast when I open unedited images in Picasa v. PSE 5.0.

In Picasa, the unedited images look more vibrant. The unedited images opened in PSE are washed out some.

So that's a monitor calibration issue?

That's the most likely reason although there are others. Other factors that come into play are the Color Profile your camera is using and the Color Settings you're using in PSE5. Picasa, I suspect ignores them all. Try changing Color Settings to No Color Management and see if it then looks like Picasa. That's not the best option though as it's not taking advantage of PSE's color management capabilities.

Thanks, Tony. I'll look into recalibrating the monitor.
