I'm working with film and need to scan in negatives through a Minolta Scan Dual III film scanner. Unfortunately, I do not have the software and the free trial I am using puts a copyrighted dollar sign all over the picture.

Does anybody know of any free downloadable software that I can use to scan? I heard something about Sane but don't know how to download it, the website was all confusing language to me!

PLEASE HELP!

What operating system are you using? As far as I know, SANE (http://www.sane-project.org/) is only for Linux and Solaris based systems - at least for the moment. :)

I don't know any independent free software, but Vuescan ($40, www.hamrick.com) will drive the Minolta I believe. Runs on MacOS, Linux and Windows.

But if you're on either MacOS or Windows, then the Minolta software itself is freely available here (http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/americas/scanners/dimage-scanners/dimage-scandual_3/software_drivers/index.html).
