So after reading lots of threads about noise reduction. I am wondering if there is anything free to test out for a while. I saw a thread for free Noiseware as a stand alone but I have a Mac and it does not look like it is available for Mac?
I did download the free noise ninja but the free plug-in puts a grid on your image so you can't actually use it unless you buy it. Mac users? Suggestions or do I have to buy?

Thanks again!

Well, I believe you can download a version to try it out...at neatimage.com. I like it and eventually ended up buying it.

Maybe it'll work for you. Good luck.

Jessica,

I've been looking for noise reduction software as well but I'm on a PC. One other you could try is dfine 2.0 from Nik Software http://www.niksoftware.com/dfine/usa/entry.php
They have a 15 day trial in a Mac format.

The software seems very easy to use and I like the results but It's a bit on the expensive side at $99.

If you try it, post back what you think.

Ok, I have a question about noise software...??? I have Imagenomic installed and I've used it, but when or why do you use something like this instead of what is in PSE??

Thanks

Michelle,
I use Imagenomic Noiseware on pictures that have noise from being taken in not enough light for the aperature size used. With the Noiseware Plug-In 1 click usually gets rid of the Noise. I sometimes use it to soften Faces. You know, just select the face and put on seperate layer do the 1 click and Flatten Image. Can be Flattering.

Thanks for the explaination, Doug. There is so much to do and so much going on here I sometimes think I miss the basic info for things!!!! I've got a picture to try your idea with so this is perfect timing.

Imagenomic does a very good job of taking noise away from skin, but leaving eyes and eye lashes sharp. I'm using it on all indoor shots.
