When I am emtying my recycle bin, it usually holds back one or two files daying the 'Dc307 is in use by aother program - please close program.' Fine, but I have nothing else except Windows running. Usually, when I try next time, I can get rid of it.
Windows Explorer seems to display the folders by the order they were created, rather than alphabetically, which I find most frustrating. Is there a solution?
I'll be offline till Monday pm. I do hope Kev gets back on soon - mysteriously, his email works, but no other web access!

There's a chance something has got corrupted in a system folder, or there is a malicious program causing this error.
Usually this type of errors are caused by browser hijackers... Have you checked with an antivirus/antispyware?

Ann: If you go into detail view you can click on the heading column and it will sort that column. Two clicks will reverse sort. Right click and you can add other columns (I have a MS Photo Info add-in that adds things like shutter speed and aperture for image files). If you go back to list or thumbnail view the sort order will stay the same as the one you set in detail view.

Dc307 could be a utility or part of another app running in the background. Right-click the taskbar at the bottom of the screen & choose Task Manager. From there, click the Processes tab to see all utilities currently running. You might be able to close it out from there.
You can also right-click inside any Windows folder and choose how to arrange your files & folders - right-click and choose "Arrange Icons by..." and you'll see the options.
BTW - you can add additional sorting items at the top of any Windows folder by right-clicking any current column name when in Details view - right click "Size", for example, and a popout menu will appear with all sorts of categories you can toggle on or off.
