View Full Version : What do you do with your scrapbook pages?

I see that some of you make very nice scrapbook "pages" using PSE and I have a question about them.

What do you do with the pages after they are made? do you print them? post them on the web? or do you only share them here in your various galleries?

I'm asking because I see digital scrapbooking as a way to get a friend interested in learning PSE, but I can't answer her question "then what?"

I've used PSE for years to retouch and otherwise mangle images, but never done any scrapbooking.

Thanks, Margaret

I got started with digital scrapbooking when I realized I could create something memorable for my mom's 80th birthday.

I scanned in a ton of old family photos, organized them, then created digital scrapbook pages out of them. I didn't print them, though many forum users do this. I imported all of these files into iMovie HD to create a movie with music. I also posted the files and the final video online for people to see who weren't able to attend the party.

I needed a reason to create the pages, a project to work towards. Having an end goal really motivated me to learn the program.

Unfortunately all mine are still in jpeg phases. I make more than I can print, but when I do, I either frame them, make gallery wraps, give them as presents or put them in a album.

BTW, have you all seen the new Martha Stewart 18x18 scrapbook album (featured at Michael's). WOW!!!!! Yes, I am going to get one....can't resist.

Here is my take on this print situation...
I swore big time, I would never ever go digital. Reckon I need not to swear!
However, as an old paper scrapper who likes to see it in print...
I have been printing the digital pages into a book, both bound and as a part of the traditional scrapbook /or,as a single LO to place into a frame. And, I do see me doing more of this in the near future.
Oh I am loving it. In case needed, I have recommendations of where to find great digital supplies.

Hi ...

I didn't used to print mine at all as I tend to send them to people via email ... but recenty I have started making little 4 X 4 books so that I can take those out with me ...

... and now I am thinking that I may have a larger album printed :)

Since I don't admit to scrapbooking (I, ahem, journal digitally), I don't print scrapbook pages.;)

HOWEVER, I do often print my digital "journaling" efforts, including photos! Usually in 8 x 8 or 12 x 12 size!

And then I put those printed pages in an album for safe keeping. Or I frame them once in a while.

(No one would call THAT scrapbooking, right??)

I had a similar delemma a couple of months back on whether I wanted to convert to digital or continue scrapping the old fashioned way. I posed this question here and was given very useful advice. I decided I would "try" scrapping our summer vacation photos as a starting point. Well, I was hooked right away. The versatility and creativity with digital scrapping is endless. I have always scrapped the 8 1/2 x 11 format and wanted to keep that so all my books would be the same, whether digital or paper. I print my pages and slide them into protective 3 ring sleeves to put in my album. Works great and a lot less mess. I was worried about how long the pages would last, so I do have my layouts saved to a disc as well.

I think I'm still in denial:o
Does it count as 'scrapping' if it's recipe cards?........nevermind:p

Kim, you are "scrapping" girl!! I haven't been over there to check it out...I'll have to check it out. I've been reading the newsletters avidly but I haven't had a chance to do any more lately with company and all.

I am getting ready to do a small book for my parents for Christmas. Saw Michelle for lunch and checked her digital scrapbook out and it looks awesome! I'm definitely going that route. It looks like something you'd buy in a bookstore!

What a tribute...the slideshow is so beautiful, she is an ageless woman! Your scrapbook has given me inspiration to put together my own "digital journal" for my kids and grandson. Now I will have to learn PSE for sure.
