I am trying to put together a DVD with the Video of my daughters marriage. I have completed that part (not great but learning) but I would also like to include a slide show on the same DVD. They would be accessed via the menu(?) so that they could either watch the video or slides. Is this possible? I put the slide show together this afternoon with as separate project. If this is possible how would I pull them together? I would not want to start from scratch. Is there a method of exporting and importing into another project? I am using PE3. If I :o spent a day searching the forum I might find the answer but many of you seem to know your way around and can quickly point out the relevant threads. Thanks in advance for you help.

My first recollection is that one way may be to use "adding a bonus item" to menu. If I recall, it involves stop markers. I need to look it up and/or dust off my memory and get back to you later this afternoon.

Thanks for the response. I did a quick search and found that I could export the video portion as a DV AVI. However that was not an option with the slide project. So I exported the video, made another copy of the slide project and brought that into my project. I think I got the menu portion to work properly. I am going to have to experiment with the markers and see what the maximum number of scenes that I can create.

Just go back to browse the forum.

Are you OK with what you have? Did you still want the how tos on bonus items on DVD menus?

What I have works for now the slides are a little screwed up but that is an easy fix. I certainly would like to learn more about the bonus items. Any information would be appreciated.

Now I am at the point where I would like to add bonus items to the menu. As it stands now if they play the movie they see everything. I would like to include scenes that are really not part of the actual ceremony but may be of interest. What are the How To's?

Thanks,

OK, I road tested this one, and it should work. Vary as you find workable and appropriate. At the start, your bonus clip remains in the Media Panel.

l. Video on the Timeline, rendered and with Scene Markers manually placed.
2. Go to the DVD Module, DVD Layout, and Select the Main Menu of your DVD Menu template.
3. The Timeline indication (CTI) should be at the end of the Video. You can click the End key on your keyboard to get it to the end of the Video.
4. Go to the left hand side of the Timeline, and click on where it says “DVD Marker”. The DVD Marker Dialog will open. Change marker type to “Stop Marker”. When you click OK, a Stop Marker (red in color) is added to the Timeline where you have the CTI placed.
5. Go back to the Edit Module and add you bonus material to the Timeline, but leave a few seconds gap between the Video and this bonus material. Use Page Down key to move the CTI to beginning of the bonus material on the Timeline.
6. Go back over to the left hand side of the Timeline, and click on where it says “DVD Marker”. The DVD Marker Dialog will open. Change marker type to “Main Menu” and, where it says name, type in Bonus Clip. Click OK.
7. Go back to DVD Module, and run DVD Preview to make sure you see a Bonus Clip option on the Main Menu and all the buttons are working properly.

Important notes.
1. I was not sure what would happen if, after all of the above, I added “scene markers” to the bonus footage. So, I tried it. The Bonus Clip option stays on the Main Menu, and the bonus material scene markers that I set are found on the Scene Menu page next to the scene markers that I had previously set for the initial Video.
2. There was at least one Premiere Elements 2.0 template that did not work for me. It was the one under Entertainment titled “Retro TV”. The “Blue Notes” one worked fine.
3. All of this is based on a procedure described in Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0: Classroom in a Book.

Hope it works OK for you and is what you were looking for.

Yes, this is what I was looking for. I was on vacation last week and had plenty of time to spend on it so I will be unable to get back to it right away. I have Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0: Classroom in a Book and a quick check in the contents and (limited) index and did not find anything under bonus material. Do you know what it was listed under if it was not Bonus Material?

Thanks for the time and effort you put into this.

I described what I read rather than post the link because sometimes that link does not open all the way.

It looks like it is from the Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0: Classroom in a Book, possible heading "working with submenus". Originally I found it during a Google search "Bonus Clip Premiere Elements".

Thanks, I found it in my book. Checked out Safari Books Online. Sure is pricey! I guess if you were doing a lot of research all the time it would pay for itself.
