View Full Version : Face with a Name - on the Big-5-O

Hi there, I haven't been around much lately, my mom (85) is declining in health and having alot of problems. It's been kinda hard.
On a lighter note, I've been doing some scrapping and thought I would share a page I made about turning "The Big Five-Oh" - it was this year. :( But I survived :) It also puts a "face with my name" -- actually 2 faces, the young and the old. It sure seems like a BIG number .... :)

As far as credits, the papers are by Anna Aspnes, alpha 5 by Pattie Knox, and inspiration from Deena Wuest (@ Designer Digitals).

Simone, sorry to hear about your mom.
Great looking page and tribute to "the Big 50!". Like the way you did it!

Hi, Simone!! I'm just a tick behind you on the "big clock". :p
That is a neat juxtaposition of then and now, and I hope you'll add it to the "master" face-with-a-name (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23049) thread, too.

Thanks so much for the wishes about my mom; appreciate it very much. Kim and others I know can relate, with similar situations. Often doing our pse-playing is a good break.
And, thanks for the comments on the page, too. :) I enjoyed making the page after the 'sting' had subsided, but didn't enjoy the actual event itself!
Byron- good suggestion. I have added it to the master face-w-name thread over on Pixel Hangout, as you mentioned. Thanks!

Still a cute smile after all these years! :D
You know my birthdays don't bother me nearly as much as my younger sister's birthdays. I can forget about my age, but when she hits a milestone - especially when she turned 40... ARGH, how could I possibly be old enough to have a little sister that is 40?! I can only imagine how painful it will be when she turns 50!

Hi Simone - I'm sorry to hear of your mom's health difficulties. It's so hard to watch our mothers struggle with health issues.
I LOVE your 5-0 page. It is really great - simple and yet, not simple! And, as for turning 50??? yeah, well, it happens! Someone mentioned their younger siblings birthdays. HA - I am the oldest of three girls and my dad, who is 87 and going strong, said he didn't feel old until he realized that all three of his daughters had AARP cards!
Happy birthday.

Thanks again for the nice feedback on my lo, the bday wishes, PLUS I'm getting a kick out of reading the witty "I can relate" comments! The above from Jane- I can totally relate - feel the same way. Also like what you said, Linda. My little (half)sister is 10 years younger and when she turned 40 I said to myself, "OMG, I remember when she was born and came home from the hospital, how can she be *FORTY* now, oh Lord!" :)

Think of when one of your grandchildren turn 30. That's coming up for us shortly. Actually I have found that each decade of life gets better; at least, mentally and philosophically. Clearly not physically.

¡feliz cumpleaños, Simone! Enjoy your special day. Age is just a number... how's the saying go? "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" I chose 25 and my older sister is perpetually 19 ;)
My thoughts are with you when it comes to aging parents who aren't doing well. I know how difficult it can be. We can only hope for the best.

Simone, how nice that you made yourself a little tribute to turning 50! I was so freaked out about turning 40 until I realized I'm only 2 years away from 50:eek:
I just need to relax and enjoy the ride....like I have a choice:rolleyes:.
Hope your mom does okay. I'll say a prayer for her.

Hi Simone,
Happy Birthday! '50' isn't so bad. Enjoy! Your LO is lovely, what a great idea for reaching this little speed bump along the road of life. I'm looking forward to all the numbers I can gather. It's an accomplishment.
Prayers to you for your mom. Hang in there.

The lo is great...remember age is only a number! In my mind I feel the same as I did in high school...my body is another thing.
