Hi - I haven't been here in a while. I really miss everyone! I had a few incidents that sort of "tripped me up". I haven't been able to do anything on the computer with my broken finger ( broken is sort of an understatement - the surgeon said that there was "Bone dust") - I can't even really type...Plus my brother died last week from an asthma attack that brought on a heart attack(That really sucked!!!!!)and we had to go to Virginia unexpectedly to be with my family. I will try to be back participating in the forum in about a month. Hugs, Andie

Oh Andie, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
What in the world did you do to your finger? Sounds quite painful if it needed a surgeon!

Hi everyone - Thanks for all your good wishes. We are all fine and the finger is healing - I think they will take the pin out in mid September - finally!!!

Hi Christine - I got the finger - actually most of my hand - slammed in the steel door of a train compartment in Russia. It surprisingly didn't really hurt - I suspect I did some major nerve mashing. I still don't have much feeling in the remaining injured finger. Some things are a blessing!! There is a thread somewhere in which I described the whole ridiculous injury-filled trip. I'll look for it.
Anyway - I am fine (just typing with one hand). Andie

Hi everyone. I have been away for a while. we have had quite a summer. It has been busy, fun, sad, painful...but all is well. I finally got the pin out of my finger last week ( after over 2 months) and am now going to physical therapy 3 times a week to try to get the use of it back - at least most of it anyway. It is pretty stiff - sort of like a rock, but I am making progress.
My mom moved from her condo on the Gulf of Mexico to a retirememnt community south of Tampa so she shipped me 1/2 ton of stuff (literally)that wouldn't fit into her new place. The stuff was supposed to arrive in mid September after we had our new floors installed but it got here early (a teak dining room set and 9 packing boxes of china, silver, and geegaws)- the day before the floor job started.
You should have seen my living room. It was practically floor to ceiling with stuff - family room stuff, kitchen stuff, hallway stuff , and my mom's stuff. Since they were taking the tile out we had to cover everything with plastic and seal it. If you've never had tile removed, it is a MESS!! This fine powder gets EVERYWHERE. We were forewarned, however, and took precautions. We sealed all our cabinets shut with masking tape and carefully wrapped the piano and other sensitive items. That took lots of time away from my computer and all my time away from the forum.
We have spent about 3 weeks getting things back to normal and unpacking the stuff from my mom. We painted some accent walls in the family room and kitchen. We shopped for a new sofa and loveseat. We are still not finished but are making progress. Now I am making new curtains to match the new walls and sofa. I may have to put off the sewing project for a few more weeks because my finger isn't wotking well enough yet and it is slightly problematic.
Plus I went back to work in mid July. AND all K-12 educators in Arizona have to take a 3 credit class about teaching English Language learners. The other folks in my dept at school are taking it online starting in a week so I am going to be doing that too.
Anyway, I hope to be here more often than once every 5 weeks!! I can't imagine all the great stuff I've missed!!
Hugs, Andie
