I'm finally getting around to installing all of my software onto my puter, but I've run into a problem with PSE5.
After installing as administrative user on WIN XP pro, I get a successful installation dialog box but when I go to add all of my styles and actions back into the program I can't find the following directory, I've even searched with no luck, it is just not there. I have my folders set to view all hidden files...
Local Disk C:
Documents and settings
All Users
Application Data
Adobe (this is missing)
Photoshop elements (this is missing)
5.0 (this is missing)
Photo Creations etc (this is missing)
I have been trying to get to the Adobe Store to re-download the file that I purchased but all that happens is a constant loop of redirection. Are they having problems again?
Does anyone have any suggestions? BTW, I have my virus protection turned off and I've tried putting the installation files on the desktop with no luck.
Thanks

I may or may not be on target for this, but here is my question:
What happens if you follow the path:
Start/Programs/Windows Explorer/My Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files/Adobe? Do you then see Photoshop Elements 5.0?
When you set up the software, what did you designate as the saved location for the program's files? Did you accept "Program Files" or did you browse to choose another location?

Hi Sherrie,
You probably need to make sure the HIDDEN Files and Folders are no longer HIDDEN!
Go to Explorer, (on top find) Tools then click on Folder Options
Make sure Show Hidden files and folders is checked :)
EDIT: also make sure the VIEW tab is selected!

I agree with Charles. If you had a successful installation and Artwork and Effects is showing up when you open PSE5 those folders have to be there somewhere and are most likely hidden. When you find it put a link to the Special Effects folder on your desktop - then it's always there to drop new things into.
You could also do a search for something you know is there, for example, Plastic Wrap.atn - make sure you have Search hidden files checked when you search and it should find it and you can then copy the path to your desktop.

Tony, that is a great idea, but your instructions seem like it would only put a link to the file, not to the folder. Am I misunderstanding you? Is it possible to have a link to the FOLDER?
Thanks :)

I did that and added one for my images also. So when I download something both are there for me to easly add to. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, I did find the files..in the strangest of places....?
Here is where I found them http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1cUO7ZESfAijeTnxuzpAG4mTrWNuRj_thumb.png (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1cUO7ZESfAijeTnxuzpAG4mTrWNuRj)
Isn't that strange? I'm putting the application data on the desktop. I don't like to have a bunch of icons there but this has been driving me nuts! I've only uninstalled and re-installed about 10 times!
Still have a few driver bugs to work out switching from Vista to XP on a new machine, but I'm getting there.
Thanks again!

Uhmm....none of those paths are pointing to your desktop. They are where they are supposed to be.

Tony hasn't responded yet, so I will take a shot.
I think what Tony is talking about is a Shortcut (a speial kind of link) that can be created in Windows.
On your Desktoop you do a right click, New, Shortcut and use the stuff to Navigate to where you want to put stuff.
Dragging something from the desktop on top of the folder copies it there, double clicking it opens the folder in Windows Explorer at that point.
Its a neat trick.
