Hi, I am, maybe, a recent convert to scrapping.
I can't get started without supplies.
So I have downloaded some stuff.
TexasRose, MaryAnn, gave a link to a site and I downloaded a QP. The file format is .rar. Is there a way to open it without buying the WinRar program?

Thank you.

Hi MKS,
Thanks for the kind words on my B/W, red and gold. I really can't help you with .rar. format. I do have a couple of links the ladies supplied me with,
http://www.computerscrapbook.com/free-digital-scrapbooking.html?gclid=CJ26n6rL6I0CFQltZQodTROD0w . Haven't used them, looks very interesting.
Have downloaded a few from this site:
http://nbk-nicnic.blogspot.com/
also there are, http://www.digitaldesignden.com, http://www.scrapgirls.com. I'm sure others will come to your rescue for other sites. Also Wendy has some great tutorials in the subscribers section, on how to make papers, brushes, and embellishments.
I hope this gives you a start. There are lots of members that do digi-scrapping, that will answer any and all questions you may have.
Good Luck and hope to see some pages on your new adventure:D

Marie,
Have you tried emailing Julia directly to find out more about her .rar files? Interesting site though.

Hi,
You can download WinRar free here. I have it, and I even use it now to unzip all my files. Seems to be a lot faster. http://rarlab.com/download.htm

Hi Mary Ann,
I really like the stuff on that site.
Free WinRar is good. I like free.
Thank you for that info.
I just clicked on "look on the web for the software to open this file" and it took me to a site to purchase the program.
I like her stuff, but not enough to buy another program.
I was going to skip it.
I'm so glad I asked.
Isn't this forum great.
You throw a question out there ...
Lickety split you get an answer.
Terrific!
Thanks again Mary Ann! MKS
Andrea,
your wedding pictures for that couple are just off the charts...
absolutely great.
A second career?

Hi, me again.
I didn't find the WinRar for free.
I downloaded the trial version, 40 days.
After that it's $29.
But I really, really wanted that one QP.
I don't think I will buy the software;
reserved the HD (and EHD) space for scapping goodies.:D
Here is a link:
WinrRar at c|net review
40 day trial, $29 to buy

The author of the scrap is Ukranian and WinRar supports unicode = Cyrillic and other character sets.
I guess that's why she is using it.
But I have 40 days to download.:D:D

Marie,
There are quite a few places to download the WinRar program for free without any cost. Just go to Google, and type in WinRar. No need to pay for it. I believe this may be one site. http://winrar-download-now.com/index.asp?revid=homepages&glid=1060557972&ovid=none&sub=winrar-dln_com&kbid=1390
But there are many you can find.
Also did you see the list of freebie sites I added? Here's the thread. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27296

MKS,
here's the site where you can download a free program that I use for unzipping my downloads including RAR.

Hi Kev,
thanks for the link.
I never knew there are so many zip/unzip formats out there.
Guess I don't get around much:rolleyes:
This Scrapping exploration of mine is getting complicated.
I have filed the information for the UNzip program with my scrap stuff, made sure I will not lose it.
For now I will stick with right click in XP.
Thanks for the link. I'll be prepared if I need it.
