View Full Version : adjusting screen view in PSE3

Maybe I'm nuts but for the life of me I can't figure this one out! When I open Elements and the Editor comes up I am having trouble seeing the whole screen. If I max it out the program is bigger than my screen (which is flat top 19inch!) so there are options over on the right side of my screen I can't get to. In the tool bar as well as when I am using the filters. I can't stretch the "screen" like in most programs around the border .. I don't seem to have this option with Elements. If I am in the editor say, using the tool for painting, the right side of my screen doesn't allow me to see the complete box where it says "tolerance" for instance. If I minimize the screen I still don't have the option of stretching it out to full screen so the right side is still cut off. When I am in filters the options are again on the right and the screen won't go over far enough to allow me to click on the objects if I want to move a slider to the far right. Is this making sense to anyone?? Any help would be appreciated. Would it have to do with my screen resolution ??? which is set at 800x600 pixels?? It's a hassle when I need to view the right side of the screen. Thanks for any info anyone has to offer.

The resolution for PSE 3 is to be 1024 x 768. Give that a try :)

Hi Killian ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
Yes I'm with Mary ... sounds like the wrong screen resolution to me to.
Do let us know if that sorts out the problem :)

Thanks Mary and Wendy :) I figured that was what I needed to do .... but didn't really want to resort to that ... changing the computer's resolution did indeed work for the program ... but now what do I do about those other programs my eyes can't see anymore because they're so small!! I guess it will take some getting used to seeing everything else shrunk down in size .... and some stronger reading glasses! Is there by any chance a way to set that one program to "open" with the higher resolution when it is opened? (So my screen can stay 800x600 for all the other stuff I run?) Age of computers .... you'd think there might be an option for this. Can't hurt to ask!
Thanks girls ..... so far I'm enjoying the info on the forum and especially seeing samples of work in the gallery! I think my nights just got a little longer ........ so much to read, so much to learn :)

Killan I use a higher resolution than 1024X768 when I work in PSE because I can see more of the picture.
There is no option to change the resolution on the fly.
You have a Windows machine??? Just change the resolution as needed -- that is what I do and sometimes I change it several times depending on what I'm working on then flip back for work in PSE. Bit of a nuisance but it gets easier the more you do it and get used to doing it that way.

I originally put a "shortcut" to my display on my desktop so I could change the resolution back and forth easily. Finally my husband got his own computer and I (and the kids) have gotten used to the new resolution. Just a couple days ago I deleted the display shortcut. :)

I saw a monitor that is 24 inches WIDE -- wow what we could do with that -- but at the price of a good dSLR I won't be getting one. It probably won't fit with all of my other stuff on my computer desk. And it didn't seem to fit my wallet either.
