This is kind of one of those photo project NOTHING TO DO WITH EXPOSURE OR COLOR. But can't figure out how to cut out a person or object from photo and put something else in it's place.

I cut one out but it left the gray and white background there. How can I fill in with to match the sofa and wall that was there.

Hi there ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

When you are trying to get rid of something or someone from an image you donlt cut them out what you need to do is replace them with something else. One way to do that is to use the clone tool to cover the area with something similar ..

Do let us know how you go on :)

Strange how it works.. I have never tried to cut something out unless I want to move it to another pic or something. I wonder why I haven't, it seems like the thing to do. :? :?

Hi Gary,

You mean to say that you have never removed someone or something from an image by covering it over with the clone tool ... ?

No  I meant I have never CUT somebody out instead of cloning over them.

It makes sense to think that way, I just wonder why I didn't

WendyWendy,
So what you are saying is that instead of tracing around them and cutting them out I should have used the Clone tool to clone something over them?

In this situation I have a person sitting on a sofa. Can I use Clone Tool to replace the sofa where they were sitting and the wall behind them?

Hi

I'm not Wendy but I'm pretty sure thats what she meant

Cloning can be a little tricky at first (still is for me) but it is a great tool.

Just remember to hold the alt key to take a sample area of the couch and try to keep the sample area (brush size) fairly small. Just be patient and do a bit at a time.

Its late now in Wendy land so she might not answer until tomorrow.

Hi there ...

... and it is now morning in the UK :)

If you are trying to remove someone or something from an image ... well if you select them and then do cut you are just left with your image and a hole in it where the person used to be ... and you still have to cover that up somehow

... I think its just easier simply to clone over them ... and yes as Gary said you can use the clone tool to fill in the sofa and the wall. Create a new layer above your image and clone onto that ... then if you make a mistake its easy to discrd it and start again :)

Do let us lnow how you go on :)
