I did a lot of file moving and pruning outside Organiser - i.e. in Windows Explorer. Part of this involved moving all folders from ...\MyPictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos (and other subfolders of Adobe) to come directly off ...\My Pictures (so shortening the paths.) I then deleted the empty Adobe folder in MyPictures
The majority reconnected without problems, but for a still large number it offers to reconnect with thei old Adobe address or the new one. When I try to reconnect to the new one, it says this is already done! How can it try to reconnect to a file which no longer exists?
I am now bringing the catalogue up in folder view and it shows contents for the Adobe folders. Do I delete these, or will it delete them from their proper place, too. I would do a complete backup before doing this, but even so, I would like your views first.
Alternatively, is it possible to make a new catalogue with the current subfolders as 'Watched Folders', rename the old one and name this with the name of the current one? Presumably that could not find files that don't exist any more, even in the recycle bin?
I've just received the recommended book on Organiser, and Michael Slater actually recommends working in Windows Explorer and reconnecting for really major changes.
