Of the recent uploads, these were some of the shots that immediately grabbed my eye from the thumbnails.

suzib--I like this painted and textured effect.

jimmy--Nice shot! Was this taken in an aquarium or were you diving?

shari--I like the TTV (through the viewfinder) frame on your twilight view. It looks like you have been doing some creative playing to good effect lately.

bennypederson--Benny, in all that rapid typing trying to finish before I got logged off, I inadvertenly left out the picture

rosernc--It looks like you were inside the envelope during a burn. Were you, and if so, how close were you? Awesome shot! I especially like seeing through the blue and orange flames.

bennypederson--In all my rapid typing trying to finish before I got logged off :D, I inadvertently left out your pony and had to edit. I love the backlit forelock and eyelashes and the reflection in the eye. Not only that, the DOF is just perfect to showcase them.

I checked out your gallery and your Painter Gallery and really admire your work. I would love to be able to do the painting effect that well. I assume you use the Corel paint program--don't think I could replicate that in PSE5. Terrific work.

Susan,
Thank you very much for the compliments. Yes, the ones in the Painter Gallery were done with a combination of PSE3 and Corel Painter IX.1. And, yes, the 'brush engines' for the two programs are quite different. All did begin with photos, though.

I just took a tour through your gallery, myself. You have some nice work with good eye for composition, knowing what to leave in and what to leave out both in terms of elements and detail on the sketch techniques. A lot of people struggle with that balance, it seems.

Thanks. I was just outside the basket. Close enough to feel the heat! This is 2 photos. I used a soft brush and layer mask to make the glowing balloon visible.

Yeah! I bet you could.

Thanks for revealing your 'secrets.' :) Nice job!
