This turkey vulture landed on our fairway to get a drink of water from a sprinkler head. They are scavengers and feed on mostly dead animals. They are rather large, about 30 inches high and a wingspan about 6 feet.

Some Nataive Americans call them Peace Eagles. When we were campground hosts at Devils Tower National Monument we had lots of them flying around. They may be ugly, but play a very important role. They do look eerie perched in a tree on a misty morning.
