Hi Thomas ...

I like the two images he chose ... :)

Um ... now filter lenses not my strong point. Maybe someone else around here may have a better idea about them than I have ...

Lol thanks wendy :P Yes and there were some pretty cool pictures in those days two I stayed home from school today I slept all yesterday and I just woke up about 30 minutes ago! I heard about filter lenses by this guy when I was taking pictures in the normal kiteboarding spot Ft.Desoto Tami might know what I am talkin about! but I mean i heard about a Polarized lense filter that will help that but I thought there might be something in ps3 that could do the same thing...hmmmmm!

Thomas

Polarizer lens filter would be very hard if not impossible to duplicate in PE3. In your case it would probably be a worthwile invesment. It can really help take the glare off of the water and from the sky.
I havent seen your latest pics (pixentral is acting up) but I assume they are from your kiteboarding weekend :D

Thomas,

Along with Garys' suggestion of a polarizer lens, add a UV lens. The two lens are a worthwhile investment and the cost will not max the plastic. I paid $20 for one and $25 for the other. Those were the first filters I have purchased so far (telephoto lens next).

I have to go check out your photos and also see if pixentral is working again.

You just got back and we are going to Upper Michigan for a long weekend. Thomas...I will have 3 nights to try for a sunset over Lake Superior. And if it doesn't cloud up too much, there's a full moon on the 17th. Over the Lake...oo, ah. I'm dreaming.

Thanks again guys for your help hopefully pixentral is running cause they are some pretty good pictures.. Let me tell ya Eva if it could get less cloudy I would have to much sun to deal with and my pictures wouldnt even come out!! Thanks be to god that there was no clouds!

Gary,

I think of that song often. We'll be way west of Whitefish Point in Ironwood, Michigan. The south shore to me is the north coast.

Thomas, I buy most of my equipment online from Adorama.com, but depending on your camera and location, you should be able to get them locally.

If your camera has a common lens diameter, you go to just about any major camera retailer.

P.S. Those are really known as filters and not lenses.

Yea I know... I keep getting them mixed up can anyone tell me also because I am wondering the prices on Graphics tablets because the mouse i have right now is for gaming and I dont game anymore, it stinks cause I have the X800 on a Dell and 2 gigs of RAM and now I get into pictures! Go figure.... thats more money I could have spent on a worthwhile thing than in a useless game...

Don't beat yourself up over it.. you had fun at the time.

This will be where one of the forum moms steps in and says "I told you it was a waste of money"

I think if you look around you should be able to grab a low end Wacom tablet for under $100. I just picked one up in Cananda for just over 100 CAN with a rebate on top. After rebates I think it was 80 CAN.

There have been a few threads around and it seem the Wacom line is the most dependable. A few have tried other brands with varying degrees of sucess.

Thomas ...

Take a look at the top of the forum ... there is a Wacom Advert and it looks like you can try it risk free for 30 days!

Maybe worth thinking about :)

Thomas.........here's one of those Mom's stepping in! That's okay Gary, I tell my daughter's 19 year old boyfriend how to spend his money too. He doesn't listen to be. He keeps buying junker cars, and stereo equipment. My daughter will be deaf before her 17th birthday at this rate!

Now back to you Thomas. How 'into' this stuff are you really? Is it a phase? Do you really like it and think you will continue?? I can see that you are knowledgeable and seem to enjoy your work and if that's the case I wouldn't go to cheap if you think you will continue. It's a very good investment. My son has way to many x-box games and it makes me cringe. At least now he's happy with the used games. Once he wins the game he looses interest and doesn't play that one any more. With a tablet though, you will use it continuously. It doesn't loose it's use or loose it's value. Wacom is the number 1 brand and I wouldn't skimp and get something cheaper. Get good quality product and you will be happy with it. It's an excellent investment.

Also with what you are doing you are accomplishing something and learning. Games are fun, but really what do they accomplish? What have you got to show for hours and hours of playing. I think you are on the right path. End of lecture.

With what stuff do you mean photography or games? With photography I have always had a intrest but I never thought I really wanted to get this much into it! If this was a fling I would be done with it right now because learning photoshop elements takes some time, with the gaming it took about 30 minutes and if you knew me really well I don't stop just because its fling when I make a purchase I ask myself three questions. Why am I doing this? Is it really worth what I am doing? and where is this going to get me.. I have have always had a thing for computers and editing was one of them... I mean I would have never bought a book on it just for the sake of buying it... I did it to learn and thats what I hope to accomplish is a job in photo editing.

Yes wendy I am thinking about that wacom tablet deal my cousin who builds websites in flash has one and hes bringing it over this weekend so I can see if I really like it or not.

Thomas ..

... Oh that is good. When you are looking to buy something like this then I think it is better if you get a chance to try it first.

Do let us know how you get on with it :)

Thomas are you sure you're only 15?? You sound too smart to be 15!!  Have you already gone through the stage where your parents wanted to strangle you yet and now you responsible??? All right for all those that don't know I'm having 14 year old teenager problems right now!! Can't wait to get over this hurdle! The 16 year old I like now, and the 12 year old is still okay!

Gary, I'll trade your 16 year old for my 14 year old!! She's been a challenge since the day she was born, and guess what................it's not getting any easier. If looks could kill I wouldn't be sitting here in this chair right now, I'd be 6' under. Some times I wonder why I wanted kids so much!! I also cringe every time I remember people with teens telling me to enjoy my kids when they were small because it was so much easier! (I didn't believe them! How could 2 year olds be easier than 14 year olds? Well now I know, and I pass it along to anyone with a screaming 2 year old)

ThomasT
September 14th, 2005, 07:15 PM
I must of skipped that part of the teenage thingy, I don't know I always have people say Ohh your such a good kid everyone thinks I do it to impress parents but I mean I just do it because I am me I have friends have a girlfriend I am catholic I just dont understand why people are like this to me ever since I was like 12 I have been that way I mean Its not like I am a loner and I have no friends I dont believe in that its funny cause people say I am like my dad.. He could go up talk to a person for about 10 minutes and know there whole life story and tell it to you it amazes me sometimes... lol

Sorry Thomas, he's in bed. It's after 10 pm here. He's not interested in photography. He likes to draw and he did enter a couple of Grant's challenges. (I don't want to have to share my tablet and computer with him!)
