you did a great job on this. Is that a sketch effect? I hope you have printed a copy for her Mom.

Thank you Shari, your projects are always great so your compliment means a lot to me. Actually, I make a scrapbook of all my projects for each of my three kids for Christmas each year. I've been doing it about four years now and it has become a tradition. I really enjoy it and it is fun to look back at the ones from early on and see the progression of the techniques.

Thank you again for taking a look.

Susan, what a neat scrap page. She'll have a nice way to look back an remember a not-so-nice event. You did a great job with the sketch effect. Which one did you use?

Hi Diana, I have a plug-in filter from Akvis which does the sketch effect. What I do is run it on a duplicate layer above the original and then I lower the opacity of the sketch layer to let the color through from the picture below. I have done sketchs before from scratch and have been happy with them but I really like this plug-in (almost feels like cheating) because it lets you play with the strokes and the density. I looked in your gallery and am really impressed with the way you combined the two photos into one. I love doing those kinds of things but your layout is outstanding.

Thanks, Suzanne. That was a request from my DH. He had the two photos, one of his mother and one of his father, and asked me if I could put them together into one portrait. It really wasn't that hard. I added them in separate layers in the same image, applied Grant's layer mask to each of them, positioned them where I wanted them, then blended away with a paint brush. DH was happy with it and we printed one out for each of his siblings.
