I have Photoshop Elements 2.0 and even though I have installed and uninstalled it several times, when I click the Help button or the Tutorials, I get an error message saying that the path is invalid. I changed the place where put the file but that didn't work either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What operating system are you using -- is it XP Service pack 2? or something else.

I tried to to download it to my desktop, then to a new file in program files, also to acrobat, but regardless of where I downloaded it to, I got error message about the pathway.
I don't know alot about computers, but am willing to try stuff to fix the problem.
On mine, when I click the start button, it says my computer, then local disk, c, etc. I tried to change that but no luck...lol
Thanks

Goto Control Panel and select Performance and Maintenance and the resulting screen will provide information about what serice pack is installed.

Hi...

SP2 is known to cause problems with help files on a number of Adobe products...

Go to the Help that shows in your taskbar (on the bottom), right click on it and choose Maximise. See if this cures the Help issue.

This will sound dumb, but I don't see a help button at all on the taskbar.
how do I get one there?
Thank you.

It's not dumb... it means that SP2 probably isn't causing the problem...

Check your installation CD ...there should be "User Guide.pdf" Also you should find
"Quick Reference Guide.pdf" and that is a handy cheat sheet that come with
Elements.

Also on the installation disk should be a 30 minute viedo by Deke McLelland.

I also recommend Linda Sattgast's site
http://www.scrappersguide.com

She is a contributor to this site and our newsletter also.
There are quite a few scrapbooking sites if you would like to explore the links section in this forum.

Let us know how you get on or if you need more info. :)

When I open Photoshop elements 2.0 and click on Help, it connects to the internet. Then I get the message
Cannot find \file:c:program%20FilesAdobeAcrobat%207.0HelpHelp. html
I know the help file is in the folder because you can go into the program files and click on it so I don't understand what's wrong.
It does the same when click on tutorials.
Thanks

Ps, my cd is older, and I can't find any 30 min. video.

I am so sorry - I assumed you had PSE 3 - there was a separate CD coupon for the video training when I purchased my PSE 2.

Where are your PSE files installed on your hard drive? Can you give us the path? Also the path where your help and tutorials are residing? :)

You might want to pop by the Adobe site, as Mike elluded to, there have been some issues with SP2 and Adobe help files.
I honestly thought it was more to do with some of their newer products but it might be worth a look see.

I believe the issue is with the help files and SP2 was notorious for interfering with it running properly. I'll research to see if I can find how to turn off the pop-up blocking part of XP Service Pack 2. If we can disable that then the help file will become available again. Off to the forum at adobe where this was probably well treated in the threads.

Ok ...

.... PSE2 can encounter some problems with the help section if you are using XP.

Here is a link to some info on it ... don't know if it will help you or not but here is the link:

I have been on the Adobe site looking for help, but I may have been looking in the wrong place, mostly PSE3 comes up in a search.
I am going to check out all of the links that have been sent to me, and I really appreciate the help.

I am using aol so I guess the browser is also aol but I can bring up the IE browser in a separate window.

Again, thanks...It'll take me awhile to check the links, but will let you know.

Tried that and it didn't work. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I am trying to reach the help file. I know it's there, as I just saw it...lol.
The whole thing is in c:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0.
Thanks...

Lola,

OK I now have it ... I have just realised that you are using PSE2 and AOL and that is what is causing the problem.

PSE2 uses your existing file browser and it has problems with the AOL one .. PSE3 has its own filebrowser so it doesn't affect it.

I found this on another forum ... fingers crossed that it works ...

Problems with AOL and Help can very often be overcome by setting a plain vanilla version of Internet Explorer as the default browser for your system. This doesn't impact your AOL connection, but it often will allow the Help files to open.
