There are a lot of actions for PS.
http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm#Image_Enhancements
Most of them are dedicated to PS, but some can be converted to PSE with an easy way:

Hi,
The trick is figuring out if a particular action will run in Elements. If any of the commands executed in Photoshop to create the action are not available in Elements, the action will not work in Elements, even with that conversion.
Another issue, this article is written for Elements 3 and in version 5 there is no Previews and Cache folders, and the action thumbnails for version 5 are done differently.
There are some sites that have actions ready-made for Elements, such as:
http://www.graficalicus.com/graffishop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=58
http://www.panosfx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=142&Itemid=47

I agree... Lots of good info on this site (I've been watching for a while) and have been impressed with the people here...
I can also say that ALL of the actions at EZ Actions - http://www.ezactions.com/ - work in Elements (PSE2 - PSE5, Mac and PC)... :)

Hey John (Photoblast),
Glad you could venture over here. It was through the mpix forums that introduced me to your EZActions. I currently own, EZA Porcelain, Antique Color, Mocha, Rustic Charm, Acid Wash Pro and currently one of my favorites, Midnight Color Pro. Thank you!!!!

My pleasure... I have been trying to get around more these days (and will hopefully have more time in the coming weeks)...
Those are some of the cool actions (and I've got some new stuff in the works). I think my recent favorites (the ones I use most often on my own photos) are ContraSoft and Pro Sepia. :)

Wow! Those are some great looking effects for portraits. I think I should start photographing people more so I can try some...

Julie,
The effects look cool with non-people things too :) However, I rarely take pics of non-people..:D I'll give it a try later today and show you!!

Oh, those are really pretty, Denise! Thanks so much for helping me visualize the effects on "non-people". Are those three actions one-click actions or did you have to do some tweaking to get the effect you wanted?

Hi Julie,
The actions are loaded so that they are visible within the Arts & Effects palette. You select your image layer, press apply, and the action automatically takes you through a few simple steps...i.e. levels adjustment, contrast/brightness adjust, etc. Each step allows you to customize the effect of the action on your image. Very simple and very fast.... I believe that John (Photoblast) has a couple of demo actions on his website. http://www.ezactions.com/
Scroll down after the examples and you will see a Black & White demo action that you can try for free. I am looking to buy a couple more. Like fonts, I am an action addict:D (plus, I'm trying to simplify my workflow at the same time add variation to my photos.

Just in case anyone following this thread is curious about Photoblast's actions, I see he has just posted in this thread (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27577&page=2) with examples of both his Contrasoft and Pro Mocha. Very nice!

Hi Denise,
Natasha sells two packages, one for PS and one for PSE5 so if you plan to get it be sure you have the right version. I use PSE5 so I know for certain the Photolicious package for PSE5 works. I think I might have PSE 4 on my old computer, I can give the actions a test run on it later tonight after the kids are in bed if you or anyone else would like. Just let me know. :)

I thought I'd drop in a couple of examples as well... Non-people examples that is....
Here are 2 before and after examples... The first is a flower shot.
I used the ContraSoft action on it to get the after view.
The second is the storm over traffic... The after was accomplished using the Vivid Color Pro action.
