PS Elements & Vista Question

I have PS Elements 5 on my desktop which has Windows XP. I recently purchased a laptop with Vista, and I want to install PS Elements 5 on that as well. I see (at the Adobe site) that there is a Vista "patch" or something that needs to be downloaded for PSE 5 to operate on Vista.

My question is (and I know it may sound dumb, but I know just enough about computers to be dangerous): do I install the PSE 5 software on my laptop first, then download the Vista patch? That seems the logical thing to do, but my question centers on whether the Vista-driven laptop will install the software intended for XP in the first place.

I'm not running Vista ye,t but as far as I understand you install 5 then the patch. If I recall some had it installed and had problems and the patch seemed to fix the issues. So they had it on first.:)

Welcome to the friendliest newsgroup (NG) on the Internet. It is your one stop shop for all things Photoshop Elements (PSE). Gary nailed this one. I am running PSE 5.0 on Windows Vista. You load PSE first. Then go to:

I purchased a new 64 bit computer with Vista 64 in January. Later I installed PSE5 and so far it seems to be running well. I have not installed the patch. Should I avoid installing the patch ?

Hi Bob,

Adobe does not promise PSE will work with Vista 64. If it is working well in your shop I would do nothing! If and when Adobe offically supports 64 bits I would run for the upgrade.
