I hate to say, I'm not even sure what a brush is - would like to create one for my signature - also, how do I install fonts, please?

Ann,
I think that Wendy has a tut in the subscribers area on making signatures.
Fonts are installed in the main fonts folder. Once you have your font downloaded go to Control Panel, there you'll see the font folder, just drag or paste you font into it.

Hi Ann
A brush is anything you can access from the brush pallette.:)
You can make anything into a brush with two caveats.
The size can be no bigger than 2500x2500 pixels and it will turn anything in colour to greyscale.
A lot of brushes that you make for yourself, tend to be of the "one click stamp" sort of thing.
Until you get into the brush dynamics and start changing spacing and jitter and such, dragging that brush of your eye (that you have created)across the screen, usually doesn't look much different than any other default brush.:)
Hope this helps.

Hello Ann. I am discovering there are a lot of downloads available to PSE. Just today I bought Graffi's add-o-matic to automatically instal these for me. It is a breeze to use and well worth the money.

Hope this link works for you

I will have a try. Sorry the original message was rather terse, but I had 60 seonds left before the library computer shut down!
Where do you auggest I download fonts, and what do you recommend - not too startling but not as boring as Arial etc. I definitely want Monotype Corsiva and Helvetica.

Ann - be judicious when adding fonts - everything you load into Elements slows the old girl down.
Fonts don't slow the program down much - but it is hard to scroll through dozens and dozens of fonts. In looking over my fonts, I find I have tons that are very similar.
To make a brush - make a selection - and the Edit button will have an option of "define brush from selection."
You don't need a tutorial to learn how to make a brush - but you do need one to learn how to manage brushes and switch between collections, etc., and to learn the fine points of all the things brushes can do.
You use your brushes like you use stamps. Click once and you have "stamped" with your brush. The color of the stamp is controlled by whatever foreground color you have chosen.
