I have PSE 4 and am just starting to understand how to use it effectively. I was wondering two things:
1. Is there an upgrade frpm PSE 4 to PSE 5 or do I have to buy the whole package again?
2. Is the upgrade worth it, particularly if I have to buy the whole package?
Any insight that anyone would care to provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There really are no upgrades - all versions are new stand-alone ones. And I think going from PSE4 to 5 was worth it but if you're just getting started I'd carry on learning the ins and outs of PSE4 and get PSE6 when it comes out later this year or next.

I agree with Tony. I did what you are talking about and I upgraded from PSE 4 to PSE 5. I liked PSE $ for editing JPEGs or TIFFs. I now, after relearning a new software like PSE 5 for editing RAW.
The grapevine rumors that PSE ^ is coming out, perhaps in September. If I were in your shoes, I would, as Tony said, stick with what is working for you and possibly considering upgrading to PSE 6 if and when it comes out and if and when the changes made offer a benefit to you. Please remember that the cost of upgrading is not just the cost of the software, your time and the hair-pulling you encounter when trying to edit your favorite image, but also the cost of new peripherals like books, tutorials and the like.

I have to agree about waiting to upgrade to PSE 6 (assuming a release in September). Participating in this forum will probably clue you into some of the differences for version 5 without having to purchase it. If you're a member you can still watch the videos and hopefully keep one step ahead of the learning curve. Hope this helps!

Waiting until PSE 6 comes out sounds like good advice. Thanks folks for the insight.
