How do I transport an image to a new background with out it transporting with a white background.

Hi,
Double click on the background layer in the layers palette, then answer Yes to the popup box. This makes it a regular layer (you can't remove the white from a background layer).
Use the Magic Wand to select the white area, then press the Delete key to delete the white.
Press Ctrl-A to select all, then Ctrl-C to copy it.
Go to the new background where you want to transport it, then press Ctrl-V to paste it. Then use the Move tool to move it where you want it.
If you want to save the original image after you've removed the white background, File > Save As and from the Save As box, use the dropdown arrow to choose the Format and select PNG which preserves the transparency when you save it.
