A friend of mine is planning a party for her husband who is on his way home from Iraq. I am making the invitations for her and am looking for a neat photo of an American flag. I was going to purchase one off istock, but it looks like you have to purchase credits and the one I want is only 6.00, which would leave me with a balance remaining. I don't know when i would use the balance.

I am going to use the photo portrait orientation and am making the document 8.5x11.

If anyone is willing to share a jpeg with me, I would be very grateful...it is for a good cause!

Also, I might have the opportunity to go with them to the base when their platoon arrives home...I am so excited...what great "kodak" moments!!!

TIA, Susan D

Wish I had a photo to share with you, but I don't. I just wanted to say it is a great feeling to finally get your loved ones home from that situation. My son is currently deployed in Iraq and may be home in time for Christmas, but we are not holding our breath on that one.

And going to the base will be awesome. The last time my son came home from a deployment he was with a Marine Corps helicopter air wing and they put on quite a show when they flew in.:o And picture taking opportunities will abound!!

Try here - they're all free although you may need to register at some of the sites to get them:

I picked up one from http://www.morguefile.com/ not so long ago to use in one of my pictures. There were loads to choose from. Oh and they're free.

Failing that I took some pictures of a flag flying from a flag pole when I was in the US last year....

I took this photo a few years ago in Anza Burrego, Calif.

If it fits your needs fell free to use it.

I'll look through some of mine and happy to share if you do not locate one for your project.
Congratulations to your friend's husband and his coming home. Please extend a "Thank You" to him, from me.

Thanks so much for all the offers and suggestions. After I posted the request, I thought DUH, why don't I just go drive around and take a photo of one? Well, your responses were so fast that I didn't have to. THANKS MUCH EVERYONE!

This weekend I am going to make "burma shave" style signs to put up for them to see on their way back to their base camp!

Here is the message, but I may have to shorten it a bit:

Soldiers
because of your courage, bravery and sacrifice
liberty and freedom are still ours.
We are forever grateful.

Michelle, Bayla,
glad you like it. I also have the 12" x12" page, if you like I'll post it to the scrap booking forum.

Assuming this is an Army rather than Marine unit, you may also want to consider using the Army Flag somewhere in your invitation.

Or, maybe the Army Seal
