crashes on startup

I have been using new Adobe Lightroom and not elements for awhile. I have a MAC and went to open Photoshop Elements 4.0 the other night and it crashed or at least wouldn't open. It starts loading and then stops and I get a message that it unexpectedly quit and would I like to try again. Same results. Any suggestions?

Have you installed anything new into Elements .. if not then try deleteing the prefs but if that doesn't work then I think that I would just drag Elements into the trash & reinstall ...

Not sure if you knwo how to delete the prefs or not so here are the instructions:

To do that close down Elements then click on the start up icon and quickly hold down the Command, Option and Shift keys. Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes. You do have to be quick holding down the keys so if you have problems with it try holding down the keys with one hand before you click on the icon :)

I decided to reinstall photoshop 4.0 and that didn't do any good. I also tried deleting the preferences with no luck either.
