So many folks have been asking about how to do things in the Organizer lately it looks like there would be a category for the organizer. Since the organizer is a part of Elements I think a separate category would be helpful. Does anyone know of a reason why they don’t have the organizer in its own category. Maybe its because there are so many topics already they don’t want to confuse folks by having another category to choose from.

Good question Charlotte, too many topics on a forum can be over-kill, but with the Organizer being quite a handful to get to grips with it may be a good idea to have it's own section on the forum.
I guess it depends if the powers that be think it should have it's own space.

JoJo, I use the organizer but I don't really like it. I've reorganized mine over and over and each time I think of a better way to organize and redo it. I think with so many people using the organizer it would be a good idea to have a separate section for it. I'm sure we will all still get the help we need w/o a new section. Thanks for replying;)

Hi ...

I think one of the problems of having more sections is that as the number of them increase then people start to just look in some sections and no longer look in all of them ..

We found this with Beginners and Advanced ... beginners didn't look in the advanced section thinking that it would be too complicated for them :) :) ... but of course it wasn't really so they missed all sorts of interesting tips

Hi Everyone,

Let me chime in with my own two cents (barely 1 Euro the way things are going). I started out trying to read all of the topics, but quickly zeroed in on the first four. If Organizer became a separate topic, I doubt I would read it since, as you must know by now, I do not use it. All of my organizing is done at the OS level. I make use of an Access database and notebooks full of contact sheets. Not only do I keep track of my digital images in that manner, but also the 8,500 Kodachrome slides from my late father and an additional 8,000 of my own slides. In fact the same basic system keeps track of thousands of general computer files of all types: programs, databases, links, etc.

Cheers,

Bob

Bob and Wendy you are right, there are too many categories already. I stayed in the Beginners category when I first joined the forum thinking that the other categories would just confuse me, and some of them do confuse me. I can't figure out why the Gallery has two categories so I go into both of them.

Robert, I think I like the way you do things! I'm not happy with the organizer in PSE5 so I may be switching. Care to let us know exactly what/how to build a database in Access?

Sherri, if Bob can organize and keep track of that many photos I'd love to hear how he does it also. Maybe he will check in sometime today and give us lesson on organizing:rolleyes:

Hi Charlotte ...

The two sections about the Galleries is because someone requested it ... but I donlt think anyone ever understood the diffeence between the two so people tend to post in either .. it is really confusing

Wendy: I agree. The more sections that get added the more confusing it gets. I think that there should be a rule that says if a section gets added an old one has to get dropped, locked, archived or merged into an existing one. The PSE5 one made sense initially as there is a lot that's different and it's Windows only but as time goes on and more and more people have it it gets more confusing. That said if I was organizing a forum from scratch I'm not sure what sections I'd have :)

Hi Tony ...

I really think those two Gallery ones should be merged now ... :)

Tje trouble is with sections like an Organiser one it goes through phases there will be lots of posts on one subhect for a short time and then it moves on to something else ... have to admit that I wouldn't like to set the sections either :)
