I came across a great site on a really unusual topic – pictures of moths - a while ago. The artist – Jim des Rivières - was featured on a local TV show and has a web site – click here (http://www.moths.ca/index.html)– where he shows some of his work in amazing detail.
He uses a high resolution scanner to produce these enormous prints – up to 40x60 inches – that have to be seen to fully appreciated. They look 3 dimensional.
The site has a lot of technical details as well as a moth on the front page with a powerful zoom capability.
I was able to meet with Jim and see a number of his great shots – absolutely amazing. This is defintely worth taking a look and consider using your scanner as a really high resolution camera!
If you are in the Cambridge Ontario or Ottawa Ontario area, there is information on his web site about exhibits of his work.
