Does anyone remember this from 50's?

When I saw this sign today and I laughed. I haven't seen one of these since I was in elementary school in the 50's. Maybe they were just used in GA?

Cool sign Charlotte, it was never around any school I went to or if it was someone pinched it.
Must be 50's hour, just looked at Butch's link to Andy Devine, inspired by Chuck's cryptic reference to frogs.

Charlotte, I believe we had them in Pennsylvania as well. I remember my father's corny jokes about the 'slow school'.....:rolleyes:

I posted this thread before I saw Chuck's thread, now that was weird timing. The sign was at the Coca-Cola exhibit in Atlanta. I haven't seen or thought of the sign since elementary school when my brothers use to roll them out every morning before school started and back in after school and I had to wait on them before I walked home.

Chuck, the "slow school" always go a few jokes going.

I remember them! :D We had them when I was in K-Grade2, in Oregon. Then we moved to Alaska, and we didn't have them, although we did have crossing guards.

I do not remember the Slow School Zone signs when I was a kid, but I WAS a crossing guard when I was in 6th grade :)

Chas and Charles: I was a member of the Central School (Springfield, PA) Safety Patrol in 6th grade. I have a class photo from that era where I'm wearing the white shoulder belt and badge.....! Fortunately for you, I can't find it right now or I might scan it and submit it here...:twisted:

I do remember the white shoulder belt, but I do not remember if we wore badges or not. Possible we did. I do not have a picture of myself with the belt, but sure wish I did have one. :(
