PSE2/Album 2 - Problems upgrading to 5???

I have used Elements 2 for 3 years and have used it in conjunction with Album 2. I understand that PSE5 (and some earlier versions) made the Album function part of the program rather than a stand alone program.

My question is, if I upgrade to PSE5 with its Album-like tagging and collections functions, will all the tags on the 6000 photos I already have marked transfer reliably under PSE5 and will the tags and categories show up properly under PSE5? I am fearful that they won't and this is what has been keeping me from upgrading.

Thanks for any thoughts and experiences with this issue.

I did an upgrade with someone from PS Album 2 to PS Elements 4 and it went fine.

On PS Album 2, we first did a Reconnect Missing Files and a Catalog Recover - I think that both are under the File menu in PS Album 2. (be sure to let each of these processes complete normally - the objective is to have your Catalog in good shape before the upgrade)

Then we installed PS Elements 4 (in our case) and when the Catalog is first opened there is a message saying that it is from a prior version - do you want to upgrade. You respond yes/OK and then it upgrades the catalog so that it can be used with PS Elements.

I anticipate that the process would be the same with PS Elements 5.

The tags and collections are retained in the upgrade. Creations such as slide shows and album pages do not completely transfer: for some creations you can view what you had in PS Album but can not modify them. So the advice is to finish in-progress creations before the upgrade.

This may have been one of my first posts and I appreciate your comments. In the world of computers, I have come to believe that "Change is Evil" - if you change one thing, a dozen other unknown things will change and you won't know what to do. So I have been hesitant to upgrade to PSE5, as 2 is working well. But 5 has many features I would love to have. So... I guess I will.

Anyone else have any experience with upgrading from 2 to 5 and whether the tags and categories convert?
