I posed this question before but I still have the same problem. Is there any way I can view Corey's tips without down loading the archives? As I said before, when I down load them, after it is downloaded I get "can not open movie." OK, as I am using a mac I guess I"ll go to the Apple Store to see why they won't open because nobody seemed to have an answer here. Some help, but no solution, but is there a way to view them without down loading? I have a mac osx 10.4.10 and pse 4. I know there is so much info besides Corey's tips here but it just bugs me that evidently every body but me can see them. BillandCat

I got some of Cory's tips as podcasts in iTunes - there were about 6 of them. If you send me instructions how to find them here, I'll try to figure out how to open them and let you know.
I must be really stupid because I can never find the tutes and tips people are talking about. Do you have to be a paid member to see them?

Yeah, most of the good stuff is by subscription. I learned a lot from it - well worth the $49.

I subscribed in april and there are loads of written and video tutorials in the subscriber area. I was a little hesitant because of the price. But i am so happy i subscribed. You get the newsletter and everything that is in the subscriber area, it truely is worth the money, there is a wealth of knowledge in the subscriber area. If you cant afford it yet. Just ask how to do something everyone here is real helpful. I looked at the forum posts a long time before i subscribed. Welcome to the forum.

Hi and thanks for the welcome.
I've been using PSE since before it was even called that LOL, so I don't need any of the newbie stuff and I was a computer programmer for about 25 years so I can usually wrestle any computer into submission.
I did enjoy the Cory podcasts, he was using some wrinkles in the program that I hadn't seen before, so I will probably subscribe at some future date.
Right now, I'm packing up to move house and working full time, so there's not much time for playing.
Take care, Margaret

But none of that answers the original question.
BillandCat is having trouble viewing the tutorials after downloading them.
What format are they in?
Do you have trouble viewing other video things you download? Have you tried dragging them into iTunes and playing them from there? Don't know if that would work, but it's worth a try.
Is there a way to communicate with the owners of this site? if they are making the videos, they should be able to help you view them. I think Cory uses a Mac in some of his videos, so he should be able to help you.

Hi..
I just tried downloading the Killer Tips. I'm also on a Mac, and this is what I did.
Open iTunes-->Click on Podcasts-->In the search box in upper right type in Killer Tips. I then was able to click on Killer Tips by Matt K... clicked on subscribe. It downloaded the latest one and actually started all by itself.
I'm on my laptop... most of the previous Killer Tips are on the Mac at home, but I know I downloaded about 10 of them. They are all listed in iTunes under 'Podcasts'.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Margaret ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
The tutorials on the subscriber area are really good and there are lots of them ... around 190 Video ones and about 90 written ones. With new ones being add on a weekly basis :)
... they cover all sorts of different techniques ..

Thanks Wendy, good to know!
Just a note, Matt's Killer Tips are for Photoshop and some of the tips might not be possible in PSE, but I'm sure the videos are worth exploring.
Cory's tips are also available at iTunes and can be found using the method Joan described.
Take care, Margaret

Thanks Margaret for your response. As to your questions, I have no idea what format they are in as I am comp. illiterate. I have no trouble viewing other movies and yes, I tried dragging them into itunes. As I said before, this is no disaster or big deal, I'd just like to know why. Your lucky that you do not live next door to me. I probably be pestering you with questions about my computer on a daily basis. I plan to visit the apple store and maybe I'll get some answers. Thanks again---Bill

It is kind of odd... I think the reason you have had minimal response is because nobody can think of anything.
I spent the past hour or so trying to find something with the downloads that would cause a problem but they opened and played with either iTunes or Quicktime. It made no difference whether I got them from the link on the home page or if I got them from my iTunes subscription.
The icons showed differently but they played fine. I suspect the icon difference was just because some were downloaded via iTunes and some from the link.

Thanks for your help every one--Since my last post I drove to mall, parking spaces seemed all taken but found one, walked to mall entrance, walked to Apple Store, waited in line and finally talked to a young genious. "Oh yea, just remove the dot and three letters and you will be ok" he said. Can not delete the said letters. After I down load, an icon comes up with the title "week 16. mp4.mov He told me to delete the. mov but what ever I try, I can not select just those letters. Soooooo, I quit! thanks for your time folks. BillandCat

Bill, is your Mac a new one or did you buy it used - nothing wrong with a used Mac, but is it possible that you don't have Quicktime installed on your computer?
Also, you typed the name of the file as "week 16. mp4.mov" - There is a space after the "16." That space should not be there.
It's too bad the guy at the Apple store didn't show you how to edit a file name. Click once on the name of the file. Wait a few seconds and then click once on the name again - it should turn into an editable field. Alternately, you can right click or hold the ctrl key and click on the file icon and choose "Get Info" from the pop-up menu - read the information on the box that comes up - there is a space where you can change the name of the file.
Don't give up. Computers are the most frustrating for people who have been competent in other areas of their lives. And contrary to what we've been lead to believe there's a long way to go before computers are "intuitive"
Take care, Margaret

Thanks again Margaret, which by the way was my mother's name. After I gave up, I read your last message, tried it and IT WORKED! I was able to remove the letters by the method you explained. The young fellow at the Mac Store didn't tell me how to do it because Stupid Willie did not ask him how to do it. I thought all I had to do was select it and delete it. So I am a little bit smarter now thanks to you. BillandCat
