After viewing Matt's new video, I decided to see if the adobe plug in 8.1 would work in PSE4. I have never been able to use the raw converter with PSE4 but after trying the download and following the instructions to install for PSE5 it I found that it did indeed work. I had been using the raw converter that Canon supplied with my 30D. I have to say I was impressed.
The ability to see when you have reached max saturation and the new tweaks of clarity and vibrance are fantastic. With a little experimentation I also learned that you can also drag raw images out of zoom browser into the PSE editor. Thanks Matt. The downside is now I am compelled to go back and re-do many, many images.

The DPP software that came with the Canon EOS 30D camera work much better than the older Adobe Camera RAW plugin (an 8bi file).

I havn't tested the new Adobe RAW plugin.

Ehmm, The DPP App can save TIF files (Press Ctrl+D), and then be opened in PSE.

I've had a bunch of Canon cameras over the last 5+ years, and the only piece of software that came with any of the cameras that I considered to be worth more than a passing glance is Photostitch, which is used for panoramas. Photostitch does - or did - a superior job to Adobe's Photomerge, at least in the early versions of Elements.

All the rest of the stuff (including DPP) just took up space on my hard drives and has since found its way to the Recycle Bin (doing my part for the environment!)
