Layers

I am very new to Elements. Can someone explain how to do a simple layer?

Layers are the key to using Elements so working out how to use them is vital. To create a new layer all you do is open up any image and do Layer>New>Layer.

It really depends on then what you want to do with the layer next ...

This is something I did a little while ago for somone else and it give some idea of what layers do ... it may help you :)

Then I would suggest you do a few tutorials and that will help you get the hang of using layers ...

There is also a training class on the site on layers ... and it really is good.

Hi Dave, and Welcome to the forum!

I highly recommend you take the online training course Using Layers in Photoshop Elements. It was written using Elements version 4, but it is still valid for version 5.
