Just installed Elements5 on Vista. I soon decided that I wanted to start over. I didn't want all the jpgs in my Pictures folder automatically included (I have a number of duplicates that I wanted to get rid of). I uninstalled Elements and moved all the subfolders out of Pictures. Then I reinstalled Elements. Guess what? Elements still knows about its former catalog, though of course all the pictures are missing. Is there a file I can delete after uninstalling Elements, so that I can reinstall and actually start over? If not, how do I remove the phantom folders and jpgs from Elements? Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I don't have a vista Pc but XP. But anyway PSE does not store any photos but only remembers where they are stored on your hard drive. That said you can remove any image ,link or whatever you want from your organizer that way that image will not appear in your organizer (but it is still on your hard drive) when you open it up. Hope this helps.

If you really want to start over from scratch, all you need to do is start a new catalog. In Organizer go >File >Catalog >New. When done, you can delete the old one.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner; I was on vacation. Thanks very much for the replies. Starting a new catalog was the answer. I'm grateful for the help.
