Hi there! How can I minimize or eliminate white bordering (is this called fringing?) around objects in my pictures? Sometimes I get this white 'halo' as I edit, and sometimes I find the original pic has this effect in it. I'm using a 5 to 7 MP snapshot camera. Also, is there a way for me to 'see' if my 'sharpening' of a pic is too-much, too little, or just right...other than eyeballing it on my monitor?! Thanks!

Hi ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
When you edited your images did you select and copy something to its own layer and that is where the fringing is ... or it this all on one layer ??

Hi Wendy,
Thanks... No, I'm not working with layers - unless you mean the original. So, I guess this is all on one layer...the original. Sometimes the original pic right from the camera has this effect, and sometimes as I edit the pic - especially if I add contrast - I get this effect. I'm really a new to shuttering.
Thanks!

Hi ..
It sounds like there is something on the original image and sharpening or adding contrast is intensifying it.
Which camera are you using ? and it maybe better if you post a straight out of the camera image so that we can see it :)
