I just love the informality of how towns and small cities celebrate the holiday. In addition to the High School bands, you get Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts... heck, anybody that wants to march is welcome.

Chris and I decorated my driveway this morning (one of Jane's layouts),

Then we drove a mile and a half to City Hall for the parade.

We hit the Big Time this year. The red t-shirts are an informal (very informal) group of University of Wisconsin marching band members. I'm guessing locals that just pulled together and joined in.

Good Fun :D

Looks like y'all had a great time! Nice layouts! :)

Don't know if we will make it to any our small town festivities this year. Headed to the lake yesterday, but we only made it about 5 minutes into the trip before the oldest got sick. By dinner time the baby wasn't keeping food down either. Both had fevers this morning but seem to be better this afternoon. We may yet make the fireworks tonight.

Our little town has a kiddie parade-complete with skateboards, trikes, bikes, scooters, little powered vehicles, strollers, skates, and this year a bumper car.

Rusty great photos and what a way to spend the 4th. Looks like you and Chris are having a great time. The parade in our City is small also and I like it that way.:D

Jane, thanks ... at that age, they are likely to be just fine in 24 hours - hope so.

Thanks, Charlotte, yes - we are having a ball.

Peg - love the drill team! That's what's so great about these kinds of parades. I suspect those guys finished off the parade with adult beverages :D

Two pipe bands? Wish I had been there to see/hear. Very nice layout too.

Just another night here at work for me, and a slow one so far at that. Keep the pictures coming! They are helping brighten my night. :)

Happy 4th! (what's left of it!)
