Question Will?

Is it alright to use filters, etc on photo assignments as long as the original shot remains intact with no other images, etc attached to it?

Thanks

Sherry, wow...I guess I have to keep shooting as I took a similar photo.

Carol -- you can use filters to fix your photo. Fixing the photo isn't the same as photoshopping it into something different than the original shot.

Sherry...your shot is fun and unexpected.

Linda...I love your composition. 8)

Sherry, nope, no surf boards...pretty much I was referring to the bike sign... No biggie...I like yours alot better than mine ;)

I was actually taking a pic of a bike sign--when a bike rode by & I only got the tail end of the bike in--talk about missed shot. He came up on my back side so I didn't see him coming. & then of course the camera wouldn't shoot when I realized what was happening.

Sherry,

One of those "oh s**t" moments.

I have spent a hour or chasing bikes ... got some good shots of them vanishing into the distance :( ...

Surprised I didn't get arrested :)

Nice job on the pix you guys. Geeze, I haven't had the camera outta the bag since I started my job.

Kerri ...

Yes but you do get to play with Photoshop all day :)

Wendy
PS ... which version are you using?

Jodi Frye
September 14th, 2005, 06:30 PM
...and get paid for it !! ...don't forget that Wendy ;)

:) ....you guys.... :)

And answer phones and try to figure out the computer scheduling book thingy, and all the "rules" about how to schedule kinds of things.....Then remember whether I added noise before the phone rang or not.... Oy.

PS-CS (Any helpful hints?) Drives me nuts that command+ z will only go one step back. Cammand +alt+ z is too many fingers!

Thanks Jodi, they showed me that thing but it means moving my mouse too far away. ;) Use it occasionally tho.

So on Monday my greatest opportunity to date was missed due to not having the camera -- this morning I remembered the camera but the cyclist forgot to ride by for me to get a shot.

In the end????? or just regular

Not yet.
I hate taking my camera with me through the day. I have an employer supplied car but their insurance for theft is not good and I have a wagon with no place to hide it (camera). Also, because of my back being filled with parts, I think virtually all my co-workers as well as myself have had their cars broken into at one time or another.

Gary ...

Oh that is a shame ... :(

I like to take my camera with me when I am out ... but you do need somewhere safe to keep it.

Don't ever say you can't shoot great photos again. The shadows, you caught a moment. 8) :D

I saw the bike ... its owner was heading back to it and I snapped a photo.

I told you Wendy, they were in the shed getting cob webs. Notice the flat tires. Such a shame. It does make a good insurance photo for proof of ownership should I ever need it, huh!

I love your "Bicycle" picture Bill!!! :)

Pauline
September 17th, 2005, 09:17 AM
Bill. I first opened your picture and thought, "cards??? What does this have to do with a bicycle??"..............then I saw the card box! Brilliant. What a great idea. Doing something unusual and using creative thinking makes it so interesting to see how others think. I loved it!

PS (maybe I would have been quicker with the connection had I had my shower yet and first cup of tea.............but here I sit! )

Bill

Great shot..believe it or not I had the same idea but yours turned out way better than mine would have. I also couldn't find a deck of bicycle cards in the house.. go figure

On an aside note I was shopping the other day and noticed bicycle poker chips (same thought occurrd but I would have to buy them) :)

Gary,

Now if you had your camera with you!!! ... well just a quick shot would have done :)

Now I guess I gotta get a smaller camera as well

Pauline

And that Gary, is why when I purchase my new camera I'm going to keep my little Canon S100. It's small and only 2 MP, but getting a 2mp picture is better than not getting one at all! It fits on my belt and I don't even notice it, so it's easy to take everywhere. (and it also cost so bloody much when I bought it that I just can't part with it.)

GaryK
September 17th, 2005, 01:11 PM
Pauline

I thought you were going to try to sell it to me

Pauline
September 17th, 2005, 01:35 PM
Sure Gary, would you like it for $600??   I'll even throw in the 3 batteries and memory cards.

GaryK
September 17th, 2005, 01:44 PM
Pauline

I'll trade ya for my 1.3 mp Kyocera.. It was way cheaper though, only $500

Pauline
September 17th, 2005, 01:57 PM
Gary never heard of that brand and it's even a lower mp than mine. I didn't think that was possible.

We have one entry that was photoshopped -- it is not the result of a filter to improve on the quality of the image. It would be an excellent picture for posting under the New Tutorial Thread Wendy started. But can't be used here in the photo assignment. I personally love the results and a great job was done on the picture.

Oh Pauline ...

I donlt know how I will cope ... we are off early in the morning. so I still have about 14 hours to go :)

Ummm ... but I guess I need to go to bed during that time :) ... still its only 4.45 pm here so I have ages yet :)

geeze, I can't get used to the time changes on here. You are 5 hours ahead of us!

Well it's back to my challenge. Boy this one better turn out good. I'm spending a lot of time on it!!

The time difference causes me all sorts of problems and that why I tend to still be here in the middle of the night :)

Just wanted to say that I think all of the shots are great! :D

It is so interesting to see all the different interpretations of a "one word theme" .... how some have a serious tone and others are pure fun ..... different angles .... different colour modes ....

What a wonderful learning experience!

Kathy
