Oh yeah I remember when. The very first 35mm camera I used my dad gave me, his old Argus C3 (Is that model # correct? I don't remember anymore :( )

Charles, mine was a Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic F - with screw-thread mounted lenses. Pentax resisted the bayonet mount....and lost out to all the other upstarts (Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Minolta).

Chuck,

I just now looked up Argus C3 on Google, and found my old camera. I wish I still had that camera! As you can see, it did not have an interchangeble lens.

Kev,

Great page. I did not get my first SLR until after coloured photography came in but I did take a lot of BW with the camera. We had our own darkroom and I would take a pencil, paper and camera and take the same photo over and over again taking note of each setting; then develop the film and decide what setting was right for what type of photo. At one stage we had 2 SLR cameras but Michael went out deep sea fishing and one camera was swamped by sea water !!

Getting back to your page - love the BW reel, the cat's face in the camera lens and the coloured image really sets off the whole effect.

Karen,
ah, the memories keep coming back.
I would like a pound for every photo I took of the same subject and then the trying for the perfect print. I never achieved it but I learned a lot.

Ahh Chuck, You'd do anything for another Chuck! Thanks for looking up the camera for me! I put it in my watch list. My wife and I were talking and it seems to both of us I should still have that camera, but we have not seen it in several years now. Oh the mysteries of life!

Ah, Kev,

Those were the days. I own a Canon FT, and a FX as well. The latter was my very first SLR. 1966!

Kev,

What a wonderful memory montage. My first camera was a BROWNIE HAWKEYE, Flash when I turned 14.. Think I still have it among the boxes of stuff Mom left me. Guess I will do a search today for the camera.

Thanks for sharing,

John:)

John,
pleased you like it.
My first camera which I bought when I was about 11 was a Kodak Brownie 127, it cost me the princely sum of 7 shillings and sixpence. That camera was responsible for my passion for all things photographic. It took me about 3 months to save up and buy it.

Sorry, only just found this thread - didn't get all yesterday's posts. I had a box Brownie. The montage is excellent. I love the cat pictures.

That's wonderful, Kev. I remember my first Brownie. I loved that camera. The only problem was the cost of getting the pictures developed. Thanks for bringing back some happy memories.
