Hi All,
This picture was taken of me in Toronto in 1970, at the Canadian National Exibition. I grew up training and showing horses in central NY as a teenager. My parents used to cart me all over NY, PA, NJ and Canada...... Too bad I had to grow up:(. This is my first colorizing, all comments and advice for the next project would be great.:)

Thanxs to you all for the comments, glad you liked it. It was fun doing it. I found this picture along with alot of other B/W in a box of my mothers pictures. Haven't sorted them out as of yet, but I know there are lots of techniques to use, we shall see whats next. The lasso tool is becoming my best friend!!!:)
Kim it really was a B/W. I can remember when my mother put it in an envelope and put it away. It has been in her box for 37 years. Most of her pictures are in pretty good shape.....

If you had said "here is the original (color)...here's my first try at making it B&W, I would have believed you. Very nice!

I meant that the colorizing looked so natural that the original photo could have been the one that was in color. :)

Wow, Andrea! Another great job! It sounds like you lived my dream childhood...I was crazy about anything to do with horses, but never given the opportunity to own one or take riding lessons.:( I spent many Saturday mornings watching "My Friend Flicka", "Fury", "Roy Rogers", etc. I never liked "The Lone Ranger" much, but I watched because of Silver. And on Sunday night there was "Bonanza"...Little Joe was cute but I liked his horse better!:)
I look forward to seeing what else is in that old box! I bet there's a lot of potential for some great collages/montages.

Janet - LOL on the "Little Joe and his horse" comment. I, too, was a horse crazy kid. I loved all of the Black Stallion books and just adored the movie when it came out - even though I was an adult by then.
Worth renting if you've never seen it.

RENT "The Black Stallion"?!!! I OWN two different copies on DVD and one on VHS! When it hit the theatres in 1979(maybe?) I was 24 and saw it three times in the first week. The first 30 minutes is some of the most fascinating footage...no dialogue at all, beautiful cinematography and music. I wonder if it's beeg re-released in HD yet...just got a HD DVD player.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in the Thank You dept. Got up this morning and had no Internet service. What a withdrawal that was, that was worse than having no coffee:). So now that I'm home from work I can get to it. Before doing anything like this before, you would see a picture that has been made over, and you would think to yourself " How do they do that ". Well now I know.... Not being a photographer, I really like this area. So glad there is a place where we can show others, what we did. I have learned so much these past couple of months, that it's mind blowing.
A Very Special Thanxs to Wendy and Butch, for getting me started with this tike. I posted this guy before and asked for help with him and both of them came to the rescue in style. Butch did alot of work on him also. Plus he wrote down everything he did.... That was very kind of him.
I look in other galleries and still, ask myself... How do they do that ???. I now can ask them.
I look forward to learning much, much more and someday will even be able to help someone as you all have helped me:):)

Thanxs to all for the kind words and encouragement. This is alot of fun and all of you are the greatest.
Janet, I probably did live your child hood dream.... Not only did I train and showed professionally. I was very active in the 4-H, I taught others to ride. Taught Horse Husbandry and was a judge with my Dad amongst other things. Didn't have much time with the tele. Saturday mornings were spent cleaning the barn, giving baths to my guys for Sunday ( that was show day if we were going local ). It gave me great pleasure to do this. It wouldn't have been possible, if it weren't for my parents...... That part of my life I miss very much. The horse I won the most with was a sorrel colored American Quarter Horse, his name was Lena's Red. My parents bought him for me when I was 13 years old. I will dig out a picture of him soon and post it. Enough rambling, thanxs again for the compliment.:)

Thanxs so much Ladies,
Sherrie, His name was Eagle Eye H. Appaloosa stallion. He was not one of the ones my family owned. I was commissioned to ride and promote him for stud service. Back then it was not favored that young girls rode stallions. Never could understand this. He was very well behaved:)
Peggy, Tell me about it, this program is sooooo cool:D
