Here is a restoration I did for a friend...

I'm not certain of the exact date, but one year during the '60s, he and his brother came home for Mothers' Day -- without either knowing that the other would be there!

The photo is B/W, but it was scanned as color, then desaturated in PSE. I then did the "clean-up" work of cloning out dust/spots/scratches in the subject area. After that, I used Gradient Map adjustment layers to colorize each item. I think I rotated it a bit, too. I ended up making three different crops so it could be printed 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10.

It was a big hit with the family, and there were lots of requests for copies... of course, I only put the "disguises" on the copy I'm posting on-line.

Byron,

The restoration looks great. I like the coloration, it looks so natural.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Byron ...

Oh that is nice work ... it is so good !!

I must admit that using gradient maps for colourizing is my favourite way to do it. :)

Great picture!! Does look very natural, guess I'll have to check out the gradient maps. Never tried them before.

It looks restored, not re-done, or over-done.
