I'm always amazed at your work, deedee. I like the effect.
I must say, I've really enjoyed all the posts in this new Before and After section. All the work is beautiful and I enjoy seeing the photos everyone started with. Nice work, everyone!

very nice Denise. I like the soft look you gave it. Reminds me of a pencil sketch with watercolour overlay.

Thanks everyone. This was my second major restoration. It was difficult because of all the shadows in the original photo. Essentially with this photo, my goal was to reconstruct the facial features and that was achieved using a combo of color dodging and color burning, some gaussian blur and noise removal. I just had to get those two front teeth to show. The pseudo color was recruited from my daughter's skin and eye color. Unfortunately I think now the little girl looks like a different person. I plan on redoing this photo in the future, next time, recruiting arms and legs from my children since the original limbs were soooo dark.
And yes, I am liking this section as well. The work that is being constructed is truly amazing!!!

Hi Denise ....
One of the things I do when I scan restoration projects in is to save the scanned image and then always work on a copy.
I found that as I got better at doing restorations I revisited some of the earlier ones I did :)

Definately....all my original scans were backed up last night for safe keeping. And the work was saved in psd as well as jpg, so that I can just back and delete the layers that I don't like and start again...:)
