Wendy & Pauline,
Wendy, I have a number of boxes of my family history in photographs. Some of the photos go back to the period of our American Civil War. Being the only grandchild has it benifits at times. My mother was the collector of photos for the family and with her passing a few years ago I took over the spot of "chief collector of family photos". Nobody wanted the job.:D
Started sorting another box today that has photos taken in the late 1800's.
Stay tuned as more restorations to come.
Glad you both like the restoration.
John:)

I am a beginner at restoration can you go into details to how you restored the photo, it turned out very nice. I have worked on several old photos for hours to get them half as good as your photo

Welcome to this site. Photo restoration is a lot of little steps. Its difficult to list them all a.b.c., and 1.2.3.
One thing I would recommend is to ead tutorials to get more familiar with the program, and then to get a book that covers examples of different photo restoration needs. A good one, that has benefited me tremendously is: Photo Restoration by Matt Kloskowski

John, it looks great! A fabulous and, I'm sure, tedious restoration.

I look forward to seeing more. Taking photographs in that era must have been a difficult endeavor, but WOW, they are often such awesome captures!

Wow, awesome job John! The original had some serious problem and looking at the "after" you would never know anything had been wrong with it! Must be tedious, but rewarding work!

Restoration is so rewarding and you must be so excited about all your photos and the how far they go back. You have so much history. Please show us more as your work is so good and thanks for sharing them.

Hi John,
Your restoration is well done and I am sure the rest of the family will
enjoy the images for many years to come..
If your are looking for a small suggestion, I would suggest that you
include the names and dates, discreetly, near the bottom of the print,
that is if you know the names... This information seems to get lost
over time and if you could preserve some of it for the future keeper of the
family record I think it would be appreciated
Tom :)
Just noticed the date of the orginal posting.... Still like your work... Tom
