Wow that looks great. I do not think I would have ever thought of that idea from the original. Hope you are printing and framing.

That is amazing. Like Michelle, I would never have given the original a second glance.

Trust me--I didn't think of it at first either. The picture was one my niece e-mailed me. It wasn't very good quality and had very rough edges. I keep requesting close up pictures because I'd like to practice photo retouching. I was trying to make this one a close up. I started trying to smooth the edges around her face when I realized it was starting to look almost like a pastel. That's when I decided to smudge.
Thanks for your comments. :)

I noticed that picture in your gallery and thought it was beautiful. Now that I know how it started, I've really impressed! Great work...

Su that is great. I actually see it as perfect photo for the porcelain effect. I love that effect on close-ups.

Su, that is wonderful. Is there a tutorial on that? I have only used the smudge tool for blurring out backgrounds I don't like.

Thanks guys.
Here is a link to a really good video tutorial. I've only been able to try this technique on 2 photos so far, but I hope to find the time to keep practicing. I've been too wrapped up in new printer issues  that I haven't had time for the fun stuff.
Kim--I completely forgot about the porcelain effect or I probably would have tried that first. I have another photo of her that I intend to try it on. Thanks for reminding me. :)

Thank you for the link. I'm still stuck on "Wow" for this.:)
I agree you get the smudger award. LIke Shari, I only use smudge for the same reasons, or..to try to make a bit of hair grow.

Oh Su, thank you sooo much for the link. I have just watched it and bookmarked. I will now watch it again and do my notes (this old brain cannot retain like I used to!!!) I actually took a rose photo yesterday I can try on that - but a person - wow - you are to be commended. Well - there goes my day - and the sun is out at the moment too!!! THANK you again.
