Here is the before and after photo of a child found with a number of old letters written to my great grandmother. This photo was taken around 1900.

John,

That's really good....I take my hat off to you. I've been working for over a year  on an original picture of my late mother and her twin sister taken about 75 years ago which is in really bad condition, mostly crease marks and a bit torn off the top of the photo. I would like to get it finished whilst my aunt is still alive but the truth of the matter is that I find it incredibly boring and difficult - I have a love/hate relationship with the clone tool, and it's mostly hate! I work on it for about 10 mins at a time. Don't hold your breath waiting for me to post a before and after....

Hi John ...

Oh you did such a good job on that ... putting in a new background and cropping it closer really finished it off.

Well done !! :)

John,
great work. I don't have the patience or skill to attempt any as difficult as this must have been.

Great job John.
Doing a restoration is something I have yet to attempt.
I enjoy seeing what everyone has done.

Tina,

Thanks for you kind words. Glad you like the image.

My first restoration was on a photo from the 1890's. Once I completed that image I was hooked on the restoration process.

Great job John! I'd like to see more of your work!:)

I really like restoring old photo's too!

I have a lot of old photo's from the early 1900's I need to get to, so I can never say I have nothing to do. My problem is which one to work on next.

The best thing about restoration is that each one is a new challange.

John,

Who would believe it was actually the same image? Great job. My restoration work leaves a lot to be desired but yours is amazing.

Karen :)

Great job on restoring that picture. I recently restored a picture with a lot of help from these forums. I finally had to leave it and come back to it later, I finally figured out that I just needed some time to learn more. I will post my before and after as I am happy with it now. I enjoy working on restorations as well. The hardest part for me is getting grandma or my relatives to get me the photographs. They just don't want to part with them or worse yet deal with a computer. LOL
