I thought there was a thread around before, for suggestions for the next set of courses. I can't seem to find it (maybe lost in the great crash of '05)

I would like to see a lesson on the preset manager. I have used it (not much) but I don't quite get what things I can load/save with it, and/or where I can load/save them from/to.

Ooooo lots of /s in that one.

G/ar/y

Gary,

It was lost in the crash ... so maybe everyone could put their suggestions into this thread :)

I'd like to learn about the advantages of using RAW over TIFF or JPG. I know RAW would be wasted on pictures of say... my bedroom, but what good reason would I choose to use 5X or more space on my memory card and then on my hard drive for RAW. I'd also like to see a RAW sunset and be walked through how to make that file look like it should. The Lincoln pic was good but it didn't have that much color for me to distinguish...

Anyway, thanks for putting this topic up again, Gary.

Dynamic range can be expanded by using mutliple images with different exposure or contrast settings

I'm with Gary more on presets!

And maybe a small mention on the various filters and how they can/could be used (with an emphasis on scrapbooking... :) )

The presets are on the top of my list, then the filters with an emphasis on scrapbooking.

All those different brush options that I haven't quite figured out yet.

I was playing with some of them and couldn't figure out the Jitter (I think). It didn't work how I though it would.

Had the same problem while doing this weeks challenge, finally figured out that jitter switches the foreground and background colours. Haven't even looked at the impressionist and the color replacement brushes (what is a discontiguous limit?). And then there are those tablet options - how come I can check all of them - does that mean that when I press harder it will do all those things (actually I just tried and I guess it does but don't know what the doing the hue jitter does - sound like it might be fun though  )

Thats what I figured the jitter would do..but for me I seemed to be getting a weird colour tossed in sometimes. I was trying to do a sort of blonde wig thing for the elephant (challenge) and I thought I had picked two sort of yellowy shades for f/g and b/g but I would get this random orange and brown the odd time. Oh well...fun and adventure :)

You're right - it seems to do random blends with the % slider controlling how far towards the background color it gets - I just painted maple leaves with red and black as f and b and with a lowish % you get some rather nice fall colour effects - I might not have to go to Algonquin at the end of September for those fall color pics after all.
