Hi guys

I am new to this forum and a newbie to photoshop. I have experience in PSP and PSE is pretty much similar. Here is my question.

What I want to do is load a photo and only have it load with a 3-5 color pallete. I would like the program to re-color the image using the closest match. Also, I would like to be able to adjust the tolerence so that there are not a lot of little pixels of different colors of that small set.

I know this sounds confusing and I am confusing myself.
Help is appreciated or questions about what the heck I am talking about.

Thanks

Wendy

Hi ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Not sure if it will work or not but try ... Image>Mode>Indexed Colour

or experiment with Filter>Adjustments>Posterize ...

Another way that might do what you want is to use Save for Web and Save as a GIF file - that will let you pick the number of colours to use and the dither setting will control how much it will attempt to match intermediate colours by dithering. It's a good way to get a posterization effect with an exact number of colours.
