I have Patterns and can I heck get to use them. I also downloaded some free lace patterns via a Zip file, which was ok...they are all there. Tried and tried but can't get them to work at all. Can somebody point me in the right direction please....I would be most grateful.

Hi Dolly ...

Try this ..

Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern ...

Then choose you pattern and adjust the scale ...

OR: ...

Use the paint bucket and set the fill (top of the page) to pattern ...

Do let us know how you go on with it :)

Hi Wendy

First suggestion didn't work....but woohooo....the second suggestion did. Thanks so much .... if I want to change the size of the pattern it seems as though the canvas size is changed as well....is that the case or am I doing something wrong??? Just trying to get my head round this!

Hi Dolly ...

If you want to scale the pattern you need to use Layer>New Fill Layer and then choose the pattern option ..

... that bring up a New Layer Box and you need to click on OK ..

... then a Pattern Fill box comes up and you are able to select which pattern you want to use (click on the little black triangle next to the pattern thumbnail) and then just change the scale in the scale section ...

Wendy - I just discovered that scale button a few months back - probably a hint I learned on this board. Wow - that little suggestion - using "fill layer" - has really helped me with some fun projects.

I like to make a new pattern and then use that pattern to make an even more complex pattern using scale. I end up with a lot of useless stuff - but it looks cool. LOL

Hi Wendy

Well I got as far trying to scale and just kept getting an error message. Haven't really had time to try and figure it out, but will work at it.

As far as the patterns are concerned I downloaded them from:

Hi Wendy

Everything now has worked just fine with the tips you gave me....thanks so much. It didn't work initially because I forgot to select .... duhh ...that's why I got the error message. Sorry to be a nuisance!:mad:
